We are a growing garden looking for a variety of different materials, services, and people!
Growing up I was surrounded by various family and friends that had personal gardens, but I rarely felt like I could help nor found gardening interesting at that time in my life. Later on, after buying my first house, I created my own garden. Around the same time, I was invited to volunteer on a farm (www.cornerhillfarm.com) owned by friends. I showed up eager to work, not realizing the journey I was about to embark on. As I made beds, planted seeds, picked fruit and vegetables I felt an overwhelming sense of belonging.
I discovered all the things I didn't even know I had been looking for in my life, in the garden. I had permission to have fun, to be creative, to get muddy playing in the dirt, to be physically active, using muscles I never used before, and found excitement in the nuance within farming/gardening. As I shared my excitement in playing with the earth I found myself surrounded by people who were equally or even more passionate about the planet and plants. For the first, I felt a sense of wholeness within myself and a community full of kindness and generosity.
My friends, Rebecca and Brad, from Corner Hill Farm, are so welcoming in teaching me and answering the loads of questions I ask. They inspire me to pass on this knowledge; in the same fun and loving way, to be a resource for people who want to learn and work in a garden. I invite you to join me and this community on an adventure to discover the fun of gardening!
